Reflecting On 2011

As the year 2011 quickly approaches the end I sit here and ponder "What have I accomplished this past year and how can I make for a better 2012?"

Tomorrow, marks six months or a half of year spent in West Palm Beach, Florida. In 2011 I reached a point in my life that allowed me to define where I wanted to go in my life professionally. I knew what I wanted to do and I was ready to embark on that path again but unlike before my life has new meaning and a better understanding of who I am I was able to do the work and show myself in the best light. Last spring during my annual review one of the things I was told was "I think you should start to look outside the box, figure out exactly where you want to go, and start moving in that direction" it was something along those lines. It opened my eyes I realized there were plenty of openings out there just not in Chicago. I faced my fears, closed my eyes, and started to apply to different places around the country. As one opportunity did not work out I did not give up I actually pursued even harder which landed me a interview where I currently work. I wanted this job more than anything and I proved that. This past year has taught me a lot about taking risk and getting out of your comfort zone do all that you can do and let go of the results.

In the year 2011 I landed on local news and Good Morning America stranded in a blizzard. One of the most interesting experiences I've ever had weather related. I will never forget it. This past year I really spent a lot of time improving my quality of life and giving back to others. Trying to be of service whenever I can. In May opportunity knocked and my life took a drastic turn South. It was very emotional to leave Chicago a place I had lived for seven years so many friends, memories, and comfort but it was the best move I could have made in the right direction.

I have had some amazing opportunities this year lets see Mercedes Benz Swim Fashion Week in July and Fashion Week in New York in September. My new job assignment as a Visual Stylist a dream that came through after a ton of hard work. I am so happy and blessed to be where I am at in my career. This past year I have also had my ups and downs as well as challenges but I greeted each one with grace that got me here today.

I close to 2011 with no regrets. I will begin to set out my goals for 2012 and put forth the effort to make those goals reality in the end whatever is meant to be in my path will be just that.

Cheers!
